Fish Taco Toppings Board

Planning a Taco Tuesday? This fish taco spread will be your new go-to no matter what day of the week! I used frozen fish sticks to make this board extra speedy (and kid-friendly!), but I also love to season and grill my fish for a more elevated, Baja-style experience. For added fun, whip up some Simple Margs or serve with your favorite Mexican lager!

Fish Taco Sauce Recipe

  • 3 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon adobo sauce (I used the liquid from canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce)

In a small bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, garlic powder, and adobo sauce (use more if you like things spicy!) until thoroughly combined.

Best Fish for Fish Tacos

I used fish sticks from the frozen section to make this super easy! If you want to go a fresher route, the best type of fish for tacos is white fish (like tilapia, halibut, cod, mahi mahi, etc). Try:

  • Grilled (halibut is great here for it’s texture, but you can also go for a fattier non-white fish:   tuna, salmon, and swordfish)
  • Battered and fried (cod and tilapia are best)
  • Oven roasting (perfect for big batches)
  • Ceviche (you could use shrimp here!)
