Pizza topping combos are practically infinite, so instead of limiting yourself to just one or two, set up a toppings bar so you (and your guests) can try as many variations as you want! My favorite way to do this is to have pizza dough so folks can make their own little personal pizzas from scratch, but if you want something a little faster (and more kid-friendly), you can opt for frozen cheese pizzas cut into slices (or personal pizzas if you can find them!).

How To Layer Pizza Toppings

So what’s the best order of putting toppings on a pizza? Before you get to all the fun stuff, you need a base! Start with your pizza sauce (on this board I have red sauce!), then sprinkle with cheese!

Here are some tips:

  • First things first, make sure you don’t add too many toppings (as tempting as that might be)! It will make it harder for you pizza (and the toppings) to get nice and crispy.
  • If you’re using a lot of fresh produce, limit the amount of meat you add. Fresh produce will make it hard for the meat to crisp up.
  • Space out your toppings! And separate similar items, so items like produce and meat can cook more evenly.

This is so fun, especially as the warmer weather returns. A fun way to host a mini pizza making night with family or friends!

*disclaimer: my kids told me they probably won’t eat most of it 🙄. Their loss 😉
