4th of july red white and blue appetizers

If you’re hosting a Memorial Day BBQ or Independence Day party this year and are in need of a crowd-pleasing red white and blue appetizer or a unique, patriotic dessert to finish off your celebrations, this festive burrata board is exactly what your barbecue needs. Between the burgers, hot dogs, and potato salad, this fresh, creamy American flag-themed snack is the perfect pop of color to add to your spread.

Ever since my Ultimate Burrata Board went viral, I’ve been remixing it and combining all kinds of tasty flavors. One thing’s for sure: I couldn’t resist making it into a flag board for the holiday. Given how much you loved the Baked Strawberry and Burrata Crostini, I figured this berry and burrata combo would be a win-win. You can also add prosciutto to the mix (check out my Burrata and Prosciutto Crostini).

Put It All Together

  • Next add the cherries in a roughly 2-inch wide line at the top of the board and to the right of the square dish. Add two of the burrata balls directly below. Spoon the strawberries onto the board in another 2-inch thick line below the burrata, but this time the fruit should reach both sides of the board. Place the 3 remaining burrata balls on the board below the strawberries.
  • Add the blackberries to the dish, then decorate them with the cheddar cheese stars. Cut the burrata balls into halves, then pull them apart using a fork until the cheese covers the spaces in the board. Add the raspberries on top of the strawberries, then top the burrata with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Enjoy!

Red White and Blue Burrata Board

Description

This Independence Day board is a perfectly patriotic appetizer or fruity dessert for your backyard barbecue.

Ingredients

The Produce

  • Cherries pitted and halved
  • Strawberries halved
  • Blackberries
  • Raspberries

The Cheese

  • 5 burrata balls drained
  • White cheddar cut into stars

The Rest

  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Add a small square appetizer plate to the upper lefthand corner of a rectangle wood board (bonus points if it has a lip at the edge like this one to help keep everything from spilling).
Enjoy!
