cheesecake toppings for cheesecake

When it comes to cheesecake toppings, the most popular is a strawberry topping (quickly followed by a blueberry topping). But there’s so much more to explore flavor-wise! Plus, you can easily make all types of delicious cheesecakes, including pumpkin, chocolate, oreo, raspberry-swirled, peanut butter, and so many more. What’s not to love? Even if you skip the mix-ins and go the classic New York cheesecake route, there are so many yummy things beyond fruit that you can serve on top of cheesecake! That’s why I opted for the plain version for this toppings board. No matter what you serve, you really can’t go wrong when it comes to cheesecake!

Other Ideas for Cheesecake Toppings

Plain cheesecake is like a blank canvas–it pairs beautifully with so many different flavors because it hits both savory and sweet notes. You can choose toppings to bring out either of those flavors, but I personally like to pair it with bright acids to complement the rich, creaminess. You can also double down on the creaminess! The world is your…cheesecake.

Acidic

  • Lemon curd
  • Peaches
  • Pineapple
  • Cranberry compote
  • Key lime curd
  • Passionfruit coulis

Creamy

  • Pumpkin mousse
  • Classic sour cream topping (try this recipe!)
  • Chocolate mousse
  • Chocolate ganache
  • Pistachio mousse

Sweet & Savory

  • Caramel
  • Candy bars
  • Butterscotch
  • Dulce de leche
  • Crushed pretzels
  • Apple pie filling
