Crêpes are basically just a delicious vehicle for Crêpe toppings, and you know how much I love toppings bars! This Crêpe bar is full of fresh fruits and sweet spreads so you can make the best sweet Crêpes. It’s easy to prep ahead and every guest can tailor their Crêpes to their own tastes–it’s brunch perfection!
You can even make this board gluten-free and/or vegan! If you make a hybrid board, just be sure to serve them separately for any guests with dietary restrictions.
What Are Crêpes?
If you’re unfamiliar, Crêpes are basically just super thin French pancakes! The main difference is the absence of a leavening agent, which is what makes them so delicate and foldable. They’re also not just a breakfast food!
They can be eaten at any time of day because they pair perfectly with so many different flavors. My board features all sweet toppings, but Crêpes are also commonly made with savory toppings, like: ham, cheese, mushrooms, eggs, avocado, and so much more.
How To Make Crêpes
You can buy Crêpes pre-made at the store, but my favorite way to serve Crêpes is making them hot and fresh from scratch! But, they tend to be a lot more finicky than your average flapjack. Check out this homemade crêpe recipe from AllRecipes or this easy crêpe recipe from Natasha’s Kitchen.
If you want to make Crêpes ahead, you can either mix the batter a day before and store it in an airtight container in the fridge, or you can actually make the whole batch and store the Crêpes in the fridge for 1 to 2 days. To reheat them, zap them in the microwave or warm them in a 275°F oven (be sure to cover them with foil so they don’t dry out!).
Pro tips:
- You can sift the flour before adding it to make the batter airier
- Don’t overmix the batter! Once the flour is incorporated, stop mixing
- Make sure to use a nonstick pan and/or butter to prevent sticking
- To check if the Crêpe is ready to flip, give the pan a shake to see if the Crêpe moves easily. Flip it too soon and it might tear; too late and it might get rubbery.

How to Fold Crêpes
- Classic fold: Spread the toppings out on the Crêpe, then fold in half twice to create a triangle.
- Roll-up: Spread the toppings on one side of the Crêpe, then roll it up like a taquito (if you have a lot of filling, roll it like a burrito with the ends tucked in!)
- Cone fold: Spread the toppings out on the Crêpe, then fold in half. Roll the half into a cone shape with the seam as the point.
- Fold over: when you have a lot of filling to work with, add it in a line in the center of the Crêpe, then fold one side over the filling and the other side over top.
