salami chips recipe

Ditch the potato chips and make these crunchy, protein-packed salami chips instead! They’re super easy to make as an afternoon snack, an appetizer for date night, or an hors d’oeuvre for your next gathering. Throw ‘em in the oven (or air fryer!) and serve them with your favorite dip. I prefer my Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip, but salami chips go with just about anything. Try some of my other Dips!

How To Make Salami Chips

  • Thinly sliced salami

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spread salami out in a single layer on a non-stick baking sheet (no parchment paper!). Bake until crispy and beginning to brown, 15-20 minutes.
  • Transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate and let cool.
  • Add yogurt dip to a small bowl and place on a plate. Fan salami chips around the bowl and enjoy!

Pro tip: When it comes to salami slices, the thinner the better! That way it crisps perfectly without burning.

Directions May Vary

When I first heard about salami chips, I tried a few recipes, and not all of them worked for me. This recipe, particularly the use of thin salami and skipping the parchment paper, is the result of my many trials and errors! That said, cook times and oven temps often vary, so watch closely and find the best method for your oven! Check out the video below for more.

Try it in an Air Fryer or Microwave

When I posted this recipe on Instagram and TikTok, I got a ton of questions about using an air fryer. For all you air fryer enthusiasts out there, I’m sad to say that I personally haven’t tried it out yet, but I have heard success stories. I’ve also heard that some people felt that it gave the salami chips a slightly burnt flavor. So, that said, I encourage you to try for yourselves.

From X BLOG…“Preheat airfryer to 400 degrees. Air fry for 4 – 5 minutes until crispy and lightly browned. You may have to work in batches so salami doesn’t overlap!”

Don’t have an airfryer? Apparently you can also use your microwave to create salami chips! Here’s how (via Busy In Brooklyn).
