How To Make a Snowman Cheese Ball

  • In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, Italian cheese blend, chives, parsley, rosemary, and garlic powder.
  • Push the cheese into the center of the bowl and form into a ball. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour or up to overnight.
  • Separate the chilled mixture into two pieces, one bigger than the other. Use your hands to roll them into balls. (Pro tip: Use the plastic wrap while shaping the cheese for less mess and a smoother shape!) Place the Parmesan in a bowl. Working one at a time, roll the cheese balls in the Parmesan (or pat the cheese onto the cheese).
  • Stack the smaller ball on top of the bigger ball. Push the cloves into the cheese balls to make your snowman’s face and buttons. Cut one baby carrot into a small triangle and push into the snowman’s face as a nose.
  • Serve on a platter with crackers and carrots on the side.

    1. Meg Quinn says:

you can find it in the packaged shredded cheeses in most groceries. But if a bag of Italian Style Shredded Cheese Blend is unavailable, here is a mix, ½ cup shredded mozzarella, ½ cup shredded parmesan, ¼ cup shredded asiago, ¼ cup shredded fontina, ¼ cup shredded provolone. I have added this note to the recipe. Thanks for calling it out.

Taking it waaaaay back to your childhood! Although adults THINK they have outgrown snowmen, the truth is that NO-ONE really does! Snowmen always hold a happy spot in our hearts. This is no different. I like the idea of having a cheesy snowman in the middle of items that can be used to compliment the cheese I see this cheesy guy surrounded by tiny individual tomatoes (with toothpicks to pick them up), celery sticks, black olives, and maybe some pita chips. I also think that adding sun dried tomatoes, and colorful tiny bits of yellow or red bell peppers to the cheese before you make the snowman would be visually appealing. Cute idea!
